Connecticut Child Support Enforcement

In order to enforce a child support order in Connecticut, a parent first needs to first apply for services from the Bureau of Child Support Enforcement (BCSE) by following the instructions below.

How to Apply:

In order to apply for services to enforce a child support order in Connecticut, you must first fill out an application and then make an appointment to meet with an investigator at your local child support office, bringing the items specified below.

How to Fill in the Application:

Step 1 Download the application

Step 2 – On the first page, fill in the following information about yourself:

  • Name
  • Address
  • Vital Information, including date of birth, social security number, gender, race, marital status
  • Phone number and email address
  • Employer name
  • Dates of employment
  • Employer telephone number
  • Employer address
  • Marital information
  • Divorce information
  • Indicate whether you have ever received child support services, where and when
  • Indicate whether you have received public assistance

Step 3 – Enter the following information about the children of the non-custodial parent

  • Name
  • Date of birth
  • Social Security Number
  • Whether issue of marriage
  • Whether paternity has been established and how
  • Whether the children are living with you

Step 4 – On the second page enter the following information about the non custodial parent

  • Name
  • Address
  • Vital information, including date of birth, social security number, gender, race, marital status
  • Phone number and email address
  • Descriptive characteristics including, race, height, weight, hair, eyes, scars and tattoos
  • Employer name
  • Dates of employment
  • Employer telephone number
  • Employer address
  • Vehicle information including make, model, color, year, license plate number
  • Property owned
  • Arrest and incarceration information
  • Military Branch information
  • Marital information
  • Divorce information
  • Father and mother of non custodial parent names and addresses

Step 5 – Enter the following information about child support orders:

  • Date of order
  • City and state where issued
  • Current weekly support amount
  • Docket number

Step 6 – Check if you are requesting immediately withholding against other parent

Step 7  – On page three, enter the following information about medical insurance:

  • Type of coverage
  • Policy number
  • Effective date
  • Insurance company and address
  • Policy holder who pays premiums
  • Names of dependents insured

Step 8  – On page three, enter the following information about dental and prescription insurance:

  • Type of coverage
  • Policy number
  • Effective Date
  • Name and address of insurance company
  • Policy holder who pays premiums
  • Names of dependents insured

Step 9 – Read the information of about withholding and check if you agree or not and then sign the document on page four.

Step 10 – Download and fill out the arrearages affidavit

Step 11 – Contact your local child support office to make an appointment with an investigator. Bring the following to your appointment:

  • application
  • the arrearages affidavit
  • picture identification
  • any paternity information
  • copies of any existing child support orders
  • picture of non-custodial parent
