Idaho Child Support Enforcement

In order to enforce child support payments in Idaho, a parent or caretaker may contact the Department of Health and Welfare Child Support Services and fill out an application.

How to File a Complaint

In Idaho, in order to obtain enforcement services, you must fill out an application, provide a $25 non-refundable check or money order made payable to Idaho Child Support Receipting and provide the following documents:

• A copy of the child support order
• A copy of any modification orders, if the order changed
• An Acknowledgment of Paternity form, if one was signed by both parents

How to Fill In

Step 2: On page 4, check which service you are seeking

Step 3:  On page 5 enter the following information about each child:

  • Full Name
  • Sex
  • Birthdate
  • Social Security Number
  • Birthplace
  • Lives with you?

Step 4: Enter the following marital information

  • Were parents ever married to each other?
  • Marriage date
  • Marriage city
  • Marriage state
  • Did father sign a paternity acknowledgement?
  • Divorce date
  • Divorce city
  • Divorce state
  • Support Order
  • Who is ordered to pay support for the children?
  • Father listed in child’s support order?
  • Child adopted?
  • Adoption date
  • Adoption county
  • Adoption state
  • Adoptive mother’s name
  • Adoptive father’s name

Step 5: Enter the following information about yourself:

  • Your relationship to child(ren)
  • Name
  • Social Security number
  • Sex
  • Birthdate

  • Best time to contact you
  • Employer’s name
  • Employer’s address
  • Have you ever received public assistance?
  • Have you ever received Medicaid?

Step 6: Enter the following information regarding legal proceedings:

  • Original court order number
  • Date
  • State
  • County
  • Date of last payment
  • Most recent court order number

  • Monthly support amount
  • Has another state enforced this order? which states
  • Have payments been missed?
  • Is there an open child support case for this order in another state?
  • Did you receive any direct payments not reflected in official child support payment records?
  • Name of parent providing medical insurance for the child(ren)

Step 7: Enter the following information about the other parent:

Step 8: Read the declaration carefully and initially where you disagree, then sign at the bottom.

What Child Support Services Can Do

The Idaho Department of Health and Welfare Child Support Services can take a number of actions to enforce a child support order depending on the circumstances of the parents involved and the case.  Examples of actions that may be taken include:

  • An employer of the non-paying parent may be directed to withhold pay for child support
  • A court may order that funds be garnished from the non-paying parent’s accounts
  • A non-paying parent’s credit rating may be damaged by failure to pay due to credit reporting
  • A non-paying parent’s tax refund may be diverted to child support services to pay for owed child support
