The Illinois child support calculator is a worksheet that assists a parent to estimate the amount of child support owed (or payable) based on Illinois law. The amount that is calculated by this work sheet is merely an estimate. The court or DCSS may come up with a different amount based upon your specific circumstances.
How to Calculate
Step 1: You can utilize the online calculator offered on the Illinois Department of Health and Family Services website.
Step 2: Calculate Total Income of non custodial parent by adding gross income from employer plus other income.
Step 3: Subtract from Total Income the following deductions to get Net Income:
- Federal Income Tax Withholding
- State Income Tax Withholding
- FICA
- Mandatory Retirement Deduction
- Union Dues
- Health/Hospitalization Insurance Premiums
- Prior Support Orders Actually Paid
Step 4: Multiply Net Income by the Guidelines Percentage for Number of Children to get the amount of child support owed. If you put in yearly income, this amount will be the amount owed per year. If you calculate monthly, this amount will be the amount owed per month.
