Ohio Child Support Enforcement

By Child-Support.com Staff – Last updated

In order to enforce child support payments in Ohio a parent who is not receiving child support due to them from the other parent may be able to get in touch with the Ohio Office of Child Support (OCS) to initiate enforcement action. OCS may be able to put in place wage garnishment or intercept tax refunds or other enforcement tools in order to encourage the other parent to pay what is owed.

How to File a Complaint

In Ohio, if a child support order is in place, it must be followed as issued until it is modified or terminated. Even if a child support order was issued in another state, it must be complied with and can be enforced across state lines due to the Uniform Interstate Family Support Act. In order for Ohio DCS to initiate an action, it will need copies of outstanding support orders and information about the non-paying parent.  Ohio DCS requires that a parent or custodian seeking enforcement to fill out an application
