The Rhode Island child support laws set forth the conditions for enter a child support order. Parents owe a duty of financial support to their children even when they no longer live in the home. Rhode Island uses a number of factors in order to determine the amount of support needed, taking into account the financial resources of each parent, the financial resources of the child, the standard living the child would have enjoyed if his parents remained together and special medical or educational needs of the child.
