In order to enforce child support payments in South Carolina an individual who is not receiving funds as ordered may be able to contact the Department of Social Services for assistance. DSS may be able to help locate and contact the the parent who is not paying and, if necessary, deduct funds from their paycheck on a weekly/biweekly/monthly basis so that the funds are automatically received.
How to File a Complaint
In South Carolina, parents must pay child support in accordance with the child support order as issued by the court of original jurisdiction, even if the court order is from an out of state court, until the child support order is modified or terminated. Child support orders are enforced across state lines by the Uniform Interstate Family Support Act.
In order to apply for services, a parent must first fill out an application completely and accurately and then send it to the following address with the requisite fees:

What Can DSS Do
If a parent doesn’t pay child support as ordered, then DSS can take a number of steps to enforce the payments including, income withholding, license revocation, federal and state tax refund offset and liens on assets.
