In Indiana, Title 31, Article 16 of the Indiana Code, sets forth the conditions and circumstances for the imposition of a child support order. In addition, the statutes provide for enforcement of orders and modification guidelines. In determining whether to issue a child support order, the court takes into account factors including parental financial resources, the standard of living the child is accustomed to, as well as the educational needs and medical needs of the child. In Indiana, under most circumstances, the obligation to pay child support ends when the child turns 19.
