Louisiana Child Support Laws | L.R.S. Chapter 9:315

In Louisiana, children have a right to parental support from both parents – both financially and emotionally. In order to facilitate financial support when parents separate or are absent, the state legislature has passed child support laws that enable the Department of Children and Family Services to enforce child support orders or establish new orders based on income guidelines and other factors. These factors include, among other things, how much a parent may be obligated to pay for another child, income from all sources, child care expenses and health insurance expenses.
