Rhode Island Child Support Enforcement

By Child-Support.com Staff – Last updated

In order to enforce child support payments in Rhode Island, a custodial parent may contact the Rhode Island Office of Child Support Services in order to obtain assistance. OCSS has the ability to assist with locating a missing parent and enforcing a valid child support order through wage garnishment and other methods.

How to File a Complaint

In Rhode Island, a parent is obligated to pay child support as set forth in a valid child support order – whether the order was issued in Rhode Island, or another state. Rhode Island is empowered by the Uniform Interstate Family Support Act to enforce orders across state lines. Payments must be made as provided in the order unless modified or terminated by the court.

In order to obtain enforcement services from the Rhode Island Office of Child Support Services, a parent seeking services must first fill out an application accurately and completely and send it to OCCS with a check in the amount of $20.
