Texas Child Support Laws | Family Code Chapter 154

By Child-Support.com Staff – Last updated

The child support laws of Texas set forth the parameters and conditions for the issuance of a child support order.  In most cases, child support is due until a child reaches the age of 18 or has graduated from high school.  In addition, the law sets forth different methods of payment that can be ordered including lump sum payments, periodic payments or payments through a purchased annuity. The laws also set forth the considerations given by the court when determining the amount of child support that is owed including the income of both parents and the costs associated with the child.
