The Iowa Child Support Recovery Unit (CSRU) assists families with establishing and enforcing child support and medical support orders and processing and enforcing child support payments. In addition, they can help locate missing parents and assist with establishing paternity. CRSU will also help in the event a child support order needs to be modified. CRSU is tasked with enforcing child support orders as well and can take a number of actions, including wage garnishment and tax refund withholding to ensure that ordered child support continues to be paid.
The State of Iowa provides an online website for both custodial and non-custodial parents. Custodial parents can track payments that have been disbursed and check the status of their accounts. The Iowa Child Support Estimator provides a way for you to estimate the amount of child support you may be entitled to or obligated to pay. Iowa’s Child Support Recovery Unit has an online program that allows you to enter in the requisite information in order to obtain an estimate of the amount of child support owed. Iowa’s Child Support Recovery Unit (CSRU) will assist custodial parents in Iowa who are seeking to have a child support order enforced. There are various enforcement options available so it is advisable to contact your local office and speak to a case agent. Iowa Code 598.21B, sets forth the parameters and conditions for the imposition and calculation of a child support order. The court takes into account a number of factors when determining which parent should be obligated to pay and how much they should pay. These factors include the income of each parent, the time spent with the children, i.e. who has primary custody, and costs of child care and healthcare for the children.
