North Carolina Child Support Laws | Chapter 50-13.4-13.12 of the North Carolina General Statutes

The North Carolina Child Support Laws set forth the conditions, parameters and procedures for issuing and enforcing child support orders. The laws recognize that each parent has a financial responsibility to their children even when they no longer reside with the child. The laws were promulgated in response to the nationwide child support enforcement effort and exists today to assist the courts with guidelines for issuing orders and imposing sanctions when such orders are not followed.
